Abstract. A method and system are disclosed for coordinating physical-goods order fulfillment at the AI-agent protocol layer, in which an autonomous agent's purchase intent is matched to a mesh of independent, producer-operated fulfillment nodes, and in which routing and source-selection decisions are gated by verification of a zero-knowledge proof of provenance and physical condition rather than by a central physical aggregator's custody of inventory. Each fulfillment node is a producer-local, automated (including robotic / humanoid-operated) inventory-and-dispatch endpoint that registers to the mesh through an agent-readable protocol interface (e.g., a Model Context Protocol server or equivalent tool interface). Machine-to-machine settlement is bound to successful provenance verification as a precondition of value release. The disclosed architecture allows the aggregation and trust functions historically performed by a centralized fulfillment operator (e.g., an FBA-style warehouse network) to be replaced by (a) cryptographic provenance verification and (b) distributed autonomous fulfillment, thereby permitting disintermediation of the central physical aggregator.

2. Background and Prior Art2. 2. Background

As of the publication date, the agentic-commerce ecosystem has standardized the discovery, checkout, authorization, and payment stages of agent-mediated purchasing. Representative protocols include Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent-to-Agent (A2A), and Trusted Agent Protocol (TAP). A consistent architectural assumption across these protocols is that fulfillment is left to the merchant's pre-existing physical pipeline: the agent layer "sits in front of" fulfillment and triggers it, but does not itself reorganize how goods are physically aggregated, stored, and dispatched.

Separately, "virtual" or software-coordinated fulfillment networks (e.g., merchant-facing distributed 3PL orchestration and fulfillment-network offerings) coordinate multiple third-party warehouses via software to compete with centralized fulfillment operators. These are, however, (i) human-merchant-facing rather than agent-native, (ii) organized around price/latency/geography rather than verifiable provenance, and (iii) still dependent on conventional custodial aggregation and trust-by-reputation.

Neither line of prior art discloses coordinating fulfillment at the agent-protocol layer with cryptographic provenance verification as the routing/selection gate, nor the consequent removal of the central physical aggregator's trust function. The present disclosure addresses precisely that gap.

代表的なプロトコルには、Agentic Commerce Protocol(ACP)、Universal Commerce Protocol(UCP)、Agent Payments Protocol(AP2)、Model Context Protocol(MCP)、Agent-to-Agent(A2A)、Trusted Agent Protocol(TAP)がある。

3. Problem Addressed3. 3. Problem

1. Trust without a custodian. Centralized fulfillment operators derive their market power partly from being a trusted custodian and aggregator. As producers gain the ability to operate their own automated micro-fulfillment (via robotics/humanoids and automated last-mile), the remaining rationale for central custody is trust — a buyer/agent cannot otherwise verify condition and provenance across many small, unknown producers.

2. Machine-verifiable selection. Autonomous agents select programmatically. They require selection criteria that are machine-verifiable and tamper-evident, not human-readable marketing claims or reputation scores.

3. Condition-sensitive goods. For perishable / condition-sensitive goods (e.g., cold-chain seafood), fulfillment correctness depends on continuous physical conditions that are expensive to expose raw and often commercially sensitive (thresholds, process parameters).

4. Summary of the Disclosed Invention4. 4. Summary

The disclosed system replaces the aggregate-and-trust function of a central fulfillment operator with a provenance-gated coordination mesh operating at the agent-protocol layer. Its inventive elements are:

(A) Agent-native registration. Independent producer nodes register inventory, capabilities, and dispatch primitives to the mesh through an agent-readable protocol interface (MCP server or equivalent), such that an autonomous agent can discover and transact against them without a human intermediary or a central custodian.

(B) Provenance-gated routing. For each candidate fulfillment source, the mesh requires a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) attesting to provenance and/or physical condition. Routing and source-selection are conditioned on successful verification of that proof. A source that cannot produce a valid, current proof is not selectable, independent of its price or latency.

(C) Boolean condition attestation with concealed parameters. The ZKP attests to a physical-condition predicate as a PASS/FAIL boolean (e.g., "cold-chain continuously maintained below a confidential threshold T for the required interval") without disclosing the raw sensor series, the threshold T, or other process parameters. This lets condition-sensitive and commercially sensitive goods participate in machine selection without leaking trade secrets.

(D) On-chain anchoring. Only the PASS/FAIL attestation (and a commitment/hash of its inputs) is anchored to a public, tamper-evident ledger, producing an auditable provenance record while keeping confidential data off-chain.

(E) Integrity guard (stale-data detection). Because on-chain condition attestations are only as trustworthy as the sensing layer, the mesh incorporates a stale-input detection mechanism: an attestation is rejected or quarantined when independent sensed dimensions (e.g., temperature, humidity, and device-battery/health) are simultaneously and improbably frozen at identical values across successive polls ("multi-value coincidence"), which indicates a cached/last-known reading returned by a disconnected sensor rather than a live measurement. Detection triggers suspension of the affected mirror/anchoring path and a re-poll, and — where a defect has already been anchored — a self-disclosure record rather than concealment.

(F) Verification-bound settlement. Machine-to-machine settlement (e.g., stablecoin over an HTTP-native payment mechanism such as x402) is bound to provenance verification as a precondition: value is released to the producer node only upon, or contingent on, a valid current attestation, closing the loop between physical truth and payment.

(G) Trust-ranked selection. Agents rank candidate sources primarily by verifiable provenance strength (freshness/recency of proof, chain-of-custody completeness, attestation history) rather than solely by price or delivery latency, inverting the incumbent selection logic.

The combination (A)–(G) permits a mesh in which no party holds central custody of aggregated inventory, yet an autonomous agent can select and complete a purchase with a trust guarantee that previously required a central custodian.

5. Detailed Architecture5. 5. Detailed Architecture

5.1 Node

A fulfillment node comprises: (i) a producer-local automated inventory store (which may be operated by robotic or humanoid systems for pick/pack), (ii) a dispatch primitive interfacing to automated or third-party last-mile logistics, (iii) a sensing subsystem capturing condition data over the custody interval, and (iv) an agent-readable protocol endpoint (e.g., MCP server exposing tools such as catalog, search, condition-attestation, place-order).

5.2 Provenance / Condition Proving

For each lot, a proving subsystem ingests the sensed condition series and computes a zero-knowledge proof that a predicate over that series holds — e.g., that a monitored quantity remained within a required band relative to a confidential threshold T over a required interval — emitting only a PASS/FAIL result plus an input commitment. The threshold, the raw series, and process parameters remain confidential and are never published.

5.3 Anchoring and Audit

The PASS/FAIL result and input commitment are anchored to a public ledger, yielding a tamper-evident, independently auditable provenance record keyed to the lot. Confidential inputs are retained off-chain by the producer and can be selectively revealed to an auditor under separate disclosure if ever required, without on-chain exposure.

5.4 Sensing-Integrity Guard

A monitoring process polls each sensor at a fixed interval and writes a liveness heartbeat. A watchdog raises an alarm on missed heartbeats. A stale-input detector flags any lot whose independent sensed dimensions are jointly frozen across consecutive polls (multi-value coincidence), treating such readings as non-live and excluding them from valid attestation; affected anchoring is suspended and re-polled. Records already anchored from defective input are corrected by published self-disclosure rather than silent overwrite.

5.5 Routing, Ranking, Settlement

On receiving an agent purchase intent with constraints, the mesh enumerates candidate nodes able to satisfy the goods/quantity/timing constraints, filters out any node lacking a valid current attestation, ranks the remainder by provenance strength (§4(G)), and returns the selection to the agent. Settlement is executed machine-to-machine with release of value bound to the attestation (§4(F)).

PASS/FAIL
